Une heure avec Ann Savoy

There's a family of artistic geniuses living down on the broad Louisiana prairies of South Louisiana. Ann Savoy is the matriarch. Ann and her husband Marc Savoy have built a humble cultural dynasty in the small town of Eunice. They raised a family of artists and musicians on a farm that's been in the family for more than a century. And they've created an irresistible musical magnet drawing people from across the globe to explore a deep and complex culture where music, fine art, language, cuisine and Francophone tradition commingle in a gravy as rich as a Cajun roux.
Ann is a musician, author, photographer, artist, clothing designer, historian and ethnomusicologist. She's got a new Smithsonian Folkways album out (her first solo effort) Another Heart, which is kind of a musical memoir.
I spend an hour speaking with Ann about her life in deep Cajun and Creole country, and how the new album is a reflection of that life.
Thursday June 5, Hoot and Holler, 4-5pm ET, wesufm.org.
We'll be stretching many of our summertime Hoot and Holler offerings to an entire hour (instead of half hour segments).
