What does it feel like for a country to be threatened from within? This is the question at the core of Stephen Ronson's latest, The Berlin Agent. Sussex farmer John Cook returns as an undercover civilian agent for the British government, patrolling the countryside that's the most likely path for German invasion of Britain in WWII. The plot moves intensely from espionage to murder, while Cook and his companion Lady Margaret attempt to ferret out the fox in the henhouse, while conducting a mostly-surreptitious love affair.. Amazing details of wartime espionage, strong characters and a plot that twists like a Sussex country roadway. I talk to Stephen about the new novel on Hoot and Holler, Thursday February 27 on WESU. wesufm.org
